The MWR Top20 nr1 – REDLIGHT – Whats Going On? – Live in Marseille

For the second week in a row, Swedish talent Maini Sorri is number one on the stations chart.  The song, Someday, is taken from her 5 track mini album Someday, which is available to buy on CD baby.

This continues her success in the chart with this being the 12 week since her song was entered.  For her reign at the top to beat the record, Maini has to beat  American classic style rocker Bigtalkahh, who held the number one spot for 5 weeks, yes FIVE weeks with their fine song, In Our Dreams. The guys are also still in the top 20.

As always  nominate/ voting deadline is Thursday Midnight, U.K time.  As soon as the chart gets refreshed after the Friday countdown at 11pm, you can start to nominate and vote once more. If you do not know yet, the chart is now broadcast 9-12pm, not 10-12pm.  This was changed to play more from the bubbly upcomers list.  The stations chart is not a request show, but if you know what you have nominated and voted for and you see a song you like when the chart goes up after 11pm on Friday,  you can use the shoutbox to request a song. This is only for the bubbly upcomes on the night.  The rest of the week, you can request whatever song you like from the chart.

The MWR Listeners Chart is 100% decided by the listeners. All nominated songs get a shot at making the chart and the listeners decide if each choon makes the top20. All songs in the Top20 are guaranteed airplay on the Chart-Show every friday night on Music World Radio – where a selection of the nominations will also be presented. The weekly MWR top choon charts is purely based on listener votes. Equally, everyone may nominate tracks for a shot as “Bubbly Upcomers” in coming weeks. Preference is given to recent releases/recordings, but any and all nominations are considered. The track does not need to be released on a major – or indeed any – label to be considered. Nominees are a strong mixture of established names and new exciting unsigned acts, all of which have been nominated by MWR listeners.

We have nominations every week from  jazz pop to drum & bass.  It is up to the listeners who vote to get great music into the chart.  Sometimes they come in from the bubbly upcomers and sometimes,  like the new number one, by Big talkahh, they jump in from nowhere and have so many votes they do not even touch the bubbly upcomers list

All bubbly upcomers now recieve all song airplay or most, depending on presenter hosting on the night, because the broadcast time of the show has now been extended by an hour to 9-12pm.

Anyone can nominate songs. All 20 songs in the chart are featured on the weekly chartshow. Further all 40 songs are distributed to all MWR DJs of the week and as such all 40 will be given a good spin on air throughout the week.

Preference is given to new, interesting and alternative acts when choosing nominees. However, if you are nominating a lesser known or unsigned act – providing the track, links to further information and/or the bands website makes it alot more likely to be chosen.

Nominations are chosen on thursday night – european time. Nominations and votes cast after that but before the friday show are not wasted – but included in the following week.

Using the nominations to promote your own band or songs is absolutely fine – the quality of the music counts, nothing else. No songs or genres are excluded in advance, but equally there is no guarantee your nomination will be chosen as a Bubbly Upcomer Everyone has 1 vote per week. So your nomination is in the Bubbly Upcomers, or maybe it’s a favourite that has been in the Top 20 Chart for some time. Now what?

Well you want to keep it there don’t you? You want to see it rise up to the No. 1 spot and get as much airplay as it can.

There is a list of the top 20 Choons and then the Bubbly Upcomers, usually 20 although it depends on what mood the Junta is in that week (must remember to keep the ice cream supply topped up). Find your favourite,
click the link and there you go, one vote, done and dusted. You only get one vote, so make sure you tell everyone you can think of to vote too.

The vote page itself is fully automated and at the deadline of Thursday Midnight (UK Time) it closes and then collates the results, ready for the next evening when the Chart Show will be broadcast.

Obviously, you can’t vote for a nominated track until it has been passed by the Junta and added to the voting list – which will usually be five or ten minutes after the previous week’s chart has been announced in the Weekly Chart Show.

Just to make things clear though, no nominations will be counted as votes, if you want the band/song to move you have to cast your vote through the vote page and get your friends, family and fans to vote too. Votes are only counted once. Attempting multiple votes will only wear out your mouse.
