DJ Grumpys Cranky Recommendations ! – Volume 1

Posted in Music Reviews on January 1st, 2011 by Editor
The old grump points his dirty fingers at new & exciting acts that shouldnt be missed. This is gonna be an irregular but ongoing feature – here is volume 1 of powerfull bands that should reach a much greater audience – all have been and will continue to be featured on http://www.musicworldradio.com – but dont let it stop there, go check out all their respective pages and give the excellent tunes a thorough listen. Its well worth your while !

Mirtazapine Dreams
A new British act from the filthy end of the spectrum. As you probably know,
mirtazapine is the kind of antidepressive that leaves you spaced out and
dribbling, which is rather fitting for this downright dirty round of in your
face filthy rock and punk.
Url: http://www.myspace.com/zeusmoose

Talk to Angels
There’s something incredibly charming about these up and coming teenage guys from Talk to Angels, who bang the world over the head, with a wall of grand melodic rock symphonies with a wild edge. In particular, dig their single “Enemies Closer”. There is some pure and plain talent hidden here.
Url: http://www.myspace.com/talktoangels

Frank Megabody
Frank is a giant of the Danish music festivals, but better known as a presenter than a musician. However, his atmospherical bluesrock hymns are definately worth a look. A tune like “Feel It” makes you think – “Hey, if Leonard Cohen were from the isolated plains of Western Jutland, this is what he would sound like”.
Url: http://www.myspace.com/frankmegabodydk

5 Shots O’ Whiskey
Mainland Europe keeps delivering brilliant new takes on punk, and what better example than 5 Shots O’ Whiskey from Holland. They have already released a couple of albums, and are in the process of recording a third, to be released this year. They are wild, aggressive and just fabulously mad – give them a thorough dig.
Url: http://www.myspace.com/5shotsofwhiskey

You can dig all these excellent new acts on their websites – and of course during the infamous DJ Grumpy shows on http://www.musicworldradio.com

Maini Sorri – Number 1 second week

Posted in The MWR Charts on December 11th, 2010 by Editor

For the second week in a row, Swedish talent Maini Sorri is number one on the stations chart.  The song, Someday, is taken from her 5 track mini album Someday, which is available to buy on CD baby.

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/mainisorri3?ref=nf

This continues her success in the chart with this being the 12 week since her song was entered.  For her reign at the top to beat the record, Maini has to beat  American classic style rocker Bigtalkahh, who held the number one spot for 5 weeks, yes FIVE weeks with their fine song, In Our Dreams. The guys are also still in the top 20.

Check out the entire Top20, vote and nominate at: http://www.topchoons.com

As always  nominate/ voting deadline is Thursday Midnight, U.K time.  As soon as the chart gets refreshed after the Friday countdown at 11pm, you can start to nominate and vote once more. If you do not know yet, the chart is now broadcast 9-12pm, not 10-12pm.  This was changed to play more from the bubbly upcomers list.  The stations chart is not a request show, but if you know what you have nominated and voted for and you see a song you like when the chart goes up after 11pm on Friday,  you can use the shoutbox to request a song. This is only for the bubbly upcomes on the night.  The rest of the week, you can request whatever song you like from the chart.

As always, if you have any enquires about the chart, you can contact jax, the admin of the chart  jax@musicworldradio.com

The MWR Listeners Chart is 100% decided by the listeners. All nominated songs get a shot at making the chart and the listeners decide if each choon makes the top20. All songs in the Top20 are guaranteed airplay on the Chart-Show every friday night on Music World Radio – where a selection of the nominations will also be presented. The weekly MWR top choon charts is purely based on listener votes. Equally, everyone may nominate tracks for a shot as “Bubbly Upcomers” in coming weeks. Preference is given to recent releases/recordings, but any and all nominations are considered. The track does not need to be released on a major – or indeed any – label to be considered. To vote for your favorite or nominate a song – simply go to: http://www.topchoons.com

Nominees(Bubbly upcomers)

Posted in The MWR Charts on October 30th, 2010 by Editor

Nominees are a strong mixture of established names and new exciting unsigned acts, all of which have been nominated by MWR listeners.

Tiffany Apan

We have nominations every week from  jazz pop to drum & bass.  It is up to the listeners who vote to get great music into the chart.  Sometimes they come in from the bubbly upcomers and sometimes,  like the new number one, by Big talkahh, they jump in from nowhere and have so many votes they do not even touch the bubbly upcomers list

errorgod

All bubbly upcomers now recieve all song airplay or most, depending on presenter hosting on the night, because the broadcast time of the show has now been extended by an hour to 9-12pm.

To vote and nominate  http://www.topchoons.com/ – Voting /nominating for the chart has a deadline of Thursday midnight, U.K time and you can start the same again, after the top 20 has been counted down at about 11.45 Friday night

In the past, Redlight – Whats Going On ?, Goldblade – Toxic City F.C. Tallowate – Microscope  and  Jah Bukie – Evil Outthere have all appeared in the bubbly upcomers list then the next week they were in the chart. Out of all the above, Whats going on? stayed in the chart the longest and have had another two songs in since and have all charted 🙂 enjoy

Promote Your Band / Get Nominated

Posted in The MWR Charts on October 12th, 2010 by Editor

To nominate a track: http://www.topchoons.com/nominate.html

Anyone can nominate songs. All 20 songs in the chart are featured on the weekly chartshow. Further all 40 songs are distributed to all MWR DJs of the week and as such all 40 will be given a good spin on air throughout the week.

Preference is given to new, interesting and alternative acts when choosing nominees. However, if you are nominating a lesser known or unsigned act – providing the track, links to further information and/or the bands website makes it alot more likely to be chosen.

Nominations are chosen on thursday night – european time. Nominations and votes cast after that but before the friday show are not wasted – but included in the following week.

Using the nominations to promote your own band or songs is absolutely fine – the quality of the music counts, nothing else. No songs or genres are excluded in advance, but equally there is no guarantee your nomination will be chosen as a Bubbly Upcomer Everyone has 1 vote per week. You can vote multiple times if you please, but the system only counts the first vote you cast. No nominations will be accepted for artists already featured in the chartContact The MWR Top20
